360 and PS3 Tony Hawks to get Balance Board

by Random Hero
June 16, 2008
According to IGN, the next Tony Hawk for Xbox 360 and PS3 will feature some sort of balance board similar to that of the Nintendo Wii.

Tony Hawk's next adventure on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 could feature a Balance Board style peripheral, according to the now infamous Intellireponse leak.

Branding the new game as Tony Hawk's Adrenaline, the document states that "a new motion sensing board controller takes your game off the couch and launches you into the ultimate skateboarding experience. Shift your weight to turn and balance grinds, kick back on the tail of the board to ollie and lean into airs to pull off huge spins."

lol I bought a wii, but there were a TON of them at the store when I got it.

I sold it a year later, with a total play time of around 12 hours... which was mostly RE4, which I played on cube already.

NOTHING can save the TH series. Skate., even though an EA game, has changed the future of skateboard games. TH was always a button smash fest and now they are trying to save the franchise with a board?
SKATE. FTW!!!!! IMO!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

This actually does sound like it would be really fun.
But I learned through Wii Fit that my balance is not great.
It called me a bodybuilder after some strength exercises, though, so I think it might be lying to me..

Well, it gives you ratings based on how well you do certain activities. For instance, in the Yoga stuff, 1 star or less = out of shape, 2 stars = Yoga Novice, 3 stars = Yoga Master or something, etc.

So on the strength exercises which is push-ups, planks, etc., 3 stars calls you a body builder. And I'm not a body builder last I checked.

It does say at the beginning that since muscle weighs a lot, your readings may be off, but it has settings to compensate for the weight of your clothes and your height and age, so I don't know why it doesn't have something where you could say very little muscle, some muscle, or covert bodybuilder like me!

Anyway, in reference to this thread's topic about the balance board, it should add a pretty novel twist to the TH mechanics, but Wii Fit has this exercise where you shift your balance to hit soccer balls with your head and dodge flying cleats and stuff, and I am effing terrible at it, so if the new Tony Hawk's balance board stuff requires half the dexterity that the button-mash combos do, inebriated twits like me are SOL Baffled

There has to be an option for a controller also. I like the idea to freshen it up and add a gimmick for marketing reasons. If it works more power to them. TH is getting a little stale so they have to bring something new.

Comment about WII fit. Bought it for my nice and she uses it everyday. Pretty cool for kids.

my gf wants the wii fit, but honestly I think it will end up sitting in the corner collecting dust, maybe she could by this and get a workout

I believe that it will end up at goodwill for 75 cents like the thighmaster that everyone bought in the early 90s! A novelty and nothing more!

I argue that the TH series cant be saved, i used to massivly enjoy this game back on the PS1 and PS2, even project 8 on xbox was good. Skate though was AMAZING i loved that game, but they both have there ups and downs

Balance could be sweeeeeeet

P.S, IMO :P
