XboxAmerica is proud to be one of 39 Xbox 360 Community sites to participating in the Unlock The Achievement Scavenger Hunt. The idea has taken a year of planning to bring to fruition, but starting Monday, April 21st at 12:00 p.m. EST, the Hunt will officially begin. The concept is simple, travel to all 39 community sites and try to track down and click on the five achievements that are hidden somewhere on each site. They range for Easy to Extremely difficult placement. Anyone can play by visiting UnlockTheAchievement.com and signing up. The contest lasts from April 21st until Sunday April 27th at Midnight. I strongly encourage everyone to participate.

Prizes are still being added, but currently participants can win Xbox 360 Games, a 120 GB HDD, Microsoft Points, Limited Edition T-Shirts and Books.

This isn't about fun for just the sites and the participants, as a care package will be delivered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee consisting of 100+ unwrapped games. This generous gift on behalf of the various Community Sites and Sponsors should help brighten the day of the Children at the facility.

Check out all the details in the release below:

Unlock The Achievement Scavenger Hunt Announced!

Launches Simultaneously with Charity Event!

Tallahassee, Florida – April 16, 2008 – Want to be part of the largest and
possibly only Xbox 360 Community Scavenger Hunt? 360Sync.com today announced
it has teamed up with an astonishing 38 Xbox 360 community websites and
magazines to launch the largest website scavenger hunt built strictly for
the community. The concept – which has been in development for the past year
– is nearing its public debut extravaganza.

Players – the name referring to visitors involved in the Scavenger Hunt,
which will give the illusion that they are playing a game of some sort –
will start by visiting their favorite Xbox 360 themed website. From there,
they’ll be asked to look for clues on how to find hidden “Achievements,”
located on each of website involved. Each website will be given 5 of these
achievements, ranging in difficulty from Paris Hilton Easy to Expert Guitar
Hero III Hard. As players “unlock” more of these Achievements, their
progress will be tracked on leaderboards featuring Real-Time Position
Changes™, in turn becoming eligible to win prizes.

Among the participating websites and magazines, Official Xbox Magazine
(OXM), Xbox360Fanboy.com and Evil Avatar headline the amazing list of
websites that will be featured in the contest.

"If there's one thing video games have trained us all to do, it's find
hidden stuff," said Dan Amrich, Senior Editor for OXM. "This scavenger hunt
sounded like a logical extension of that, so when Devin invited us to
participate, we couldn't say no. Gamers get free stuff, the sites get fresh
visitors, and everybody goes away happy."

The hunt is set to begin on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 12PM EST. At the same
time, a charity package will be arriving in Tennessee to support the St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital. With the help of Gaming4Others, and the
participating sites and sponsors, a donation of 100+ games will be wrapped
up and given away to children during a party at the hospital.

Unlock The Achievement has partnered with a number of corporate sponsors,
including Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Activision, Popcap, Sierra Online,
Capcom, Freeverse, Chair Entertainment, TOR Books, and Hollywood
Collectibles. There are over 100 prize packages waiting to be given away, as
well as a grand prize that includes an Xbox 360 120GB HDD, Project Gotham
Racing 4, Soldier Of Fortune: Payback, Devil May Cry 4, Call of Duty schwag,
a Live is 5ive limited edition T Shirt, the complete Halo soundtrack, Uno,
and 200 Microsoft Points.

“This event gives many Xbox 360 websites and blogs a wonderful chance to
hold a contest for its visitors that otherwise might not have the
opportunity to give things away,” said Ziff Davis Media’s Chris Pereira,
better known by his alias ‘TheSmokingManX.’

Unlock The Achievement is not yet rated by the ESRB. Visit HYPERLINK
"http://www.esrb.org/"www.esrb.org for updated rating information.

Man thats just way to many sites. I'm not on that many in a whole year. I bet you'll have to register on each site also. That won't be any fun, and the prizes aren't worth the trouble. I could buy the whole Grand prize pack on one days pay.

Hey guys,

First off, you will only need to register on 1 site - http://www.Unlocktheachievement.com

We are going to update the homepage with better instructions, but basically, you are going to be searching for a specific image (it will be unveiled before the contest starts on Monday). Click the image, and it will unlock... whoever finds the most and ends in the top 100 wins!

Feel free to post any questions here...

Registering on one site, that's not so bad. I,m not trying to be a party pooper, but the prizes for something this big and this many people and sites shouldn't be this weak. It should at least be better than that kid who got his art work messed up on his repair. So what is Xba pitching into this. Since i'm the one bitching mabe I can help!!!

I was only going by the info in the news release. It does mention the gran prize to include a 120GB HDD (where is the Elite to go with it), Three lame games, a T-shirt that even I wouldn't want, the halo sound track, Uno, and 200 points. I'm sure there will be more stuff than this. Looking at the list of sponsers (activision, capcom, EA sports to name a few) I can't help but to be underwelmed.

Here's my Grand prize pack.

Costom painted Elite with live vision camera and battery packs with charger.
At least 10 A-list games
12 month XBL Gold
4000 point card
Cool custom event shirts (Zazzle.com)

I could add alot more stuff, but thats a start. Not unreasable.

Dude calm down, as Z has said prizes are still being added, as in the prizes haven't all been released yet. Noone is forcing you to participate in this contest, and as non gothic said free stuff is better than paying for it.
