best single player game.

Alright well let me give my two cents ...All the games these guys and gals (wow that was corny) have mentioned are GREAT GAMES!

I have to agree with Raine about BULLY. Since you said you have younger kids playing with you I would suggest that, it's kind of like a children's version of crackdown, you have three neighborhoods you can unlock and it has a good multiplayer you can play with the kids too, you may not enjoy as much as they will.

MASS EFFECT is a wonderful game, but it's also one that you will have to play at least once to see if it's for you. You can get all of the achievements but it takes more than one playthrough to get them all which is great. I believe i got 16 in one playthrough and just shooting through the story I think it took me less than 20 hours to finish, but it has a massive amount of replay value.

BIOSHOCK is an awesome game as well, it has great graphics and it has a pretty decent creep value to it as well (think condemned)

I was surprised no one else mentioned this (or maybe they did and I over looked it). But the RAINBOW SIX VEGAS games are great shooters too ( I would pick up the second one though because it's relatively close to the first one so you won't miss anything.

VIKING: Battle for Asgard is a good game too. Not worth $60 but it is a def. renter or gameflyer

A list of some other ones because this is getting longer than intended. PERFECT DARK ZERO, CALL OF DUTY 4, GEARS OF WAR (as already mentioned), HALO Trilogy (if thats your thing), FAR CRY: PREDATOR, THE ORANGE BOX, SPLINTER CELL games are good too I love DOUBLE AGENT, TWO WORLDS is a cool game if you like Oblivion ( I personally liked it better, I couldn't get into OBLIVION), PREY, STRANGLEHOLD is a good game, I liked it anyway, kind of like a Max Payne feel to it. FABLE is a good game with some what amount of reply value (but FABLE is a personal favorite)

thanks kiddcartel those were awesome suggestions also, so I have bee readying all of these suggesting since I will probably nit be buying these games till about the 1st week of June since I am waiting for school to get out. But after reading through every ones suggestions I think I will proply be picking up 2 or 3 $20-30 games instead of a $60 game it looks like I have a backlog of good games to play.

O and is sants row as bad a GTA as for a kid friendly and is it fun? I also really like the bully game idea.

yeah im not much of a fan for the halo 3 game either, but some people dig it.

But Saint's Row is pretty much the same gist as GTA4. Although I didn't play it that much some people seem to dig that one as well, but me personally I see it at the same level or GTA4, in some aspects, MAYBE a tad bit more harsh than GTA4 but again thats just my own personal opinion.

But if you get anything, I suggest renting mass effect, if you like it, it is well worth the money for it. Great graphics and GrEaT storyline, keeps you interested throughout the whole thing.

I wouldn't recommend R6V2 since you won't be online. You won't get your money's worth with the single player mode. It takes like- 5 hours to beat. Same with Halo 3. Call of Duty 4 is a good shooter, and all the achievements are all offline related, so that's a good choice for you if you like shooters.

I just meant it was REALLY short. I enjoyed it for the 2 days it took, but that was it. Actually, I have 800ish gamer score in Halo 3 and I haven't played that many games online. Just boosted to officer with my best friend. *edit* I don't mean boosted like circle boosting. I mean he's the absolute best gamer in the world, bar NONE, therefore I won every game I played with him and leveled ridiculously fast ^_^

I am a huge halo geek so I already have that, me and one of my friends ran though the game in one night on Legendary it took us about 8 hours, but it would have been allot shorter but we were really tired since we got the game at midnight and played all night.
